Frequently asked questions
Fifteen plain answers about what the app is, what it is not, and where every question and exam format comes from.
The app
Is Driving Test an official government app?
No. Driving Test is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any government agency, including the agencies that run the tests.
Which countries and licences does it cover?
Indonesia (SIM A car, SIM C motorcycle); the Philippines (non-professional A/A1 and B/B1/B2, professional light and heavy, conductor); Thailand (one combined car and motorcycle test); Vietnam (motorcycle A1/A, car B, truck C1 and C, bus and trailer D-group); Malaysia (motosikal kelas B, motokar kelas D, KPP Gabungan).
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free and supported by ads, with no in-app purchases. There is no account: your progress stays on your device.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once your question pack is downloaded. You need internet to choose a country, download or update a pack, and play Indonesian video clips (each clip is saved after the first play).
Which devices, and how big is the download?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later; Android phones and tablets with Android 7.0 or later. Packs: about 2.1 MB (Vietnam motorcycle) to 51 MB (Philippines, per language); Indonesia is about 38 MB plus video clips as you play them.
Can I switch country or licence later?
Yes — "Change territory or licence" on Home, or Settings. Progress is kept per question pack.
Questions and exam formats
Where do the questions come from?
Vietnam: Cục CSGT's 2025 bank of 600, word for word.
Thailand: all 327 questions of DLT's practice bank.
The Philippines: LTO's published reviewers and the Filipino Drivers Manual, plus vetted third-party reviewers; most Filipino versions are our translations.
Indonesia: the Korlantas POLRI practice book (answer options written for the app), the Polda Jawa Timur and Polres Berau collections, and 316 Korlantas exam clips.
Malaysia: our own question bank, arranged in numbered practice sets in the test's published format — JPJ does not publish its question bank.
How close are the mock exams to the real test?
Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippine CDE use the published format. Vietnam uses the question bank's own paper composition with the widely reported pass marks and times. Indonesia and the Philippine theory exam use the most reliable estimate available, and the app says so on the Exam rules screen. No app can promise a pass.
What is a điểm liệt question?
In Vietnam some questions are critical: answer one wrongly and the paper fails, whatever the score. Every mock paper includes one; the app marks them and explains a fail on the result screen. The 600 contain 60; the A1/A 250 contain 20.
What changes in Vietnam on 1 March 2027?
A new paper format (for example A1/A 40 questions, 36 to pass, 27 minutes; B 50, 45, 33 minutes), as reported under Thông tư 108/2026/TT-BCA. The app's mock exam switches by itself on that date. A revised question bank is expected but not yet published; we plan to update the question pack when it is.
Can I practise the Philippine CDE exam?
Yes: 25 questions, 20 to pass, no time limit, drawn from 116 CDE items, for every licence track.
Does it cover Malaysia's KPP Gabungan?
Yes: a random paper of 70 questions, 56 to pass, 75 minutes, or one of 7 Gabungan practice sets in the JPJ format; each set's label states its number of questions, and a shorter set gets a scaled pass mark and time.
Which languages?
The app's menus come in English, Bahasa Indonesia, Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese and Bahasa Melayu. Questions are in each test's language: English or Filipino for the Philippines; Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese and Malay elsewhere. English question banks for Thailand, then Malaysia, then Indonesia are planned.
