The SIM theory test: pass mark, subjects and practice material
What the regulation fixes, what nobody publishes, which subjects are examined — and how the Driving Test app handles each honestly. Every figure is stated with its source.

The format: what is fixed and what is estimated
Indonesia's regulation on driving licences, Perpol 5/2021, fixes the pass mark at 70%. It does not fix the number of questions or the time, and the figures that circulate differ — two Korlantas officials have spoken of 65 questions.
The app's mock test therefore uses its own configuration — 30 questions, 21 correct to pass, 15 minutes — and labels it as an estimate on the Exam rules screen. Treat it as practice under time pressure, not as a statement of the examination's format.

SIM A and SIM C
The app covers SIM A (car) and SIM C (motorcycle), the two classes for which practice modules are published. The SIM A pool has 655 questions and the SIM C pool 666; 141 questions serve both classes.
What the questions cover
The questions follow the five examined subjects of Perpol 5/2021 Pasal 14(4), which the app splits into 14 practice topics — road signs, markings and lanes, traffic lights and police signals, intersections, turning, overtaking, speed and more.
1,072 questions carry a picture, 318 play one of 316 exam video clips, and 767 are marked Safety because they bear on safe riding and driving.
Language
The test is in Bahasa Indonesia (English only for foreigners). The app's question bank is Bahasa Indonesia only; its menus come in six languages, including English. An Indonesian–English question bank is third on the roadmap, with no date yet.
Where the practice questions come from
Three published police collections: Korlantas POLRI's Buku Panduan Latihan Ujian Teori SIM (2023), Ditlantas Polda Jawa Timur's Kumpulan Soal-Soal Ujian Teori SIM (2022) and a Satlantas Polres Berau / Kutai Kartanegara set (2018) — 1,335 source rows in all, from which the app ships 1,180 questions, 141 of them identical in SIM A and SIM C and kept once — plus 316 Korlantas exam video clips.
The Korlantas book prints questions and model answers but no answer options; the live examination serves those. The options on those questions were written for the app from the book's model answers and reviewed. 1,018 questions show the source's own explanation.
Practising with the app
Exam draws a fresh paper with a timer and a pass mark. Practice by topic works through the 14 topics with a mastery bar for each. Weak spots brings back the questions you last got wrong, Bookmarks the ones you saved, and Readiness shows coverage, mastery, pace and your recent exams.
The question pack is about 38 MB and works offline once downloaded. Video clips download when a question needs them and are then kept — about 381.5 MB if every clip is played.
