The test at a glance
Thailand's theory test has 50 questions. You pass with 45 correct answers (90%) and have 60 minutes. This is the format the Department of Land Transport (DLT) publishes on its own page; websites that say 50 minutes are out of step with it.
| Paper | Questions | To pass | Time | Format status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Car and motorcycle (one combined test) | 50 | 45 | 60 minutes | Published format |
One test for car and motorcycle
DLT does not split its question bank by licence class: car and motorcycle candidates answer from the same bank. The app therefore has one Thai question pack and no licence-class step for Thailand.
What the questions cover
DLT's practice bank has 327 questions in 11 categories. The app keeps the categories and their counts exactly as the bank has them:
- Motor Vehicle Act13
- Land Traffic Act30
- Signals16
- Road markings11
- Regulatory signs37
- Warning signs61
- Vehicle maintenance13
- Safe driving techniques63
- Driving etiquette and awareness18
- Accident prediction45
- Traffic law in pictures20
143 questions carry a picture, and 6 have pictures as their answer options.
Language
The test can be sat in Thai or in English nationwide. The app's question bank is Thai only for now; its menus come in six languages, including English. A Thai–English question bank is first on the app's roadmap, with no date yet.
Where the practice questions come from
The app ships all 327 questions of DLT's own practice bank at safedrivedlt.com — the site is run by DLT's Land Transport Safety Bureau — with DLT's own answer keys. Nothing is authored and nothing is translated. The bank has no explanations, so the app shows none.
These are the practice bank's questions. Neither the app nor this site claims that they are the questions of the live examination.
Practising with the app
Exam draws a fresh paper of 50 questions under the test's rules: the 60-minute clock, the 45-correct pass mark and answers revealed at the end. Practice by topic works through the 11 categories with a mastery bar for each. Weak spots brings back the questions you last got wrong, Bookmarks the ones you saved, and Readiness shows coverage, mastery, pace and your recent exams.
The question pack is about 14 MB. It downloads once and then works offline.
